hansechef-logoWe invite all local and visiting chefs to participate in the HanseChef competition.

Bergen was recently accepted as a city of gastronomy in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Local food and food traditions will be an important part of the Hanseatic days.

Trade goods which dominated the Hanseatic city of Bergen for centuries, such as stockfish and herring, as well as the 500 year anniversary of the German purity law for beer, will be the main focus of the competition.

The  outdoor competition will take place by the Hansa Market Friday, June 10th 2016.

Three ingredients
Participants will be given three main ingredients to work with: watered down stockfish/dried fish, herring and beer. There will also be a mystery box with vegetables which must be used.

Participants will have 30 minutes to plan the menu and will proceed to create 3 x 12 small dishes/light dishes in the course of 2 hours. The first dish is to be served after 1,5 hours and the following dishes with 15 minutes intervals.
